Project Overview

As part of a sub-contract for Benton Associates (now called FAME - http://www.fame.com), Simply Effective utilized aspects of the RUP, produced architecture and developed code for a data manipulation and presentation project for the Swiss Re insurance company.

Project Details

  • Traveled to the Benton office in London, England. In collaboration with the Director of Benton Associates in London, assisted senior Swiss Re management with a requirements specification based on use-cases. This was the first time Benton Associates had provided a client with a Java based project.
  • Led product development from requirements capture, analysis, design, implementation, and test to distribution.
  • Utilized the RUP and UML for iterative development.
  • Provided extensive advice on using Java as the basis of a 3-tier architecture.

Technologies Used

  • UML, Java, Java-Bean, Swing, RMI, JDK.
  • Visual Café was used as the Java development tool, Rational Rose was used as the design tool. Swing was used to develop the client screens. Java Beans were used to develop the server components.
  • The database was a FAME database, which resided on a Unix machine.
